This is one of my all time favorite DIY projects to date! Bleached flannels! Need I say more. They are so much fun to make because the outcome is always different. The longer you leave your flannel in your bleach solution the lighter your garment will become. All you need are a few simple materials and you are good to go! Stop by your local thrift store and pick of a flannel, actually make that a bunch of flannels because you are going to want to make more than 1! I just donated a bunch a few weeks ago and already miss them so I will be making another thrift trip soon too! Or if you have old flannels hidden in your closet this is a perfect way to update them and give them life again!
MATERIALS: - FLANNELS - BLEACH - WATER - BUCKET - GLOVES - RUBBER BANDS -
Once you have all of your materials ready take your bucket and mix half bleach half water into it. Next add a rubber band to each of your flannels as to where you would want your line to cut off, if you don't have rubber bands just use a little more caution when dipping your shirts. Once your flannels are ready dip them into your bucket and if they are rubber banded stop them from entering the solution just about an inch from your bands. Leave them in the bleach mixture and watch them turn into some amazing color combos! The longer you leave them in the more washed out they'll become so keep an eye on them if you don't want them completely whited out! I used the dip dye method on a few. I dipped my flannel and then every 10/15 minutes I would pull it up a little more out of the water and finally leaving the end of the shirt in for longer so it faded more. Just play around with it and have fun! You really can't mess it up! Once finished ring them out and hang them up in the sun to dry. I hand washed mine first before putting them through the wash. It seems that when I dry them now in the dryer they get softer every time! I will definitely be making more!
Make sure you share your creations over @thelittlebungalow on Instagram so we can share them too! I hope you enjoyed this DIY as much as I do!
