DIY Driftwood Mobile

These are one of my favorite things to make. We spend hours on our beaches collecting driftwood and other sea gifts. I started running out of jars and places to put things so I came up with this! What better way to display your found treasures. I had all this driftwood I had found in Costa Rica too and it was just too pretty not to display! If you have pieces of your own this is a great way to show them off! If you don't; make it a weekend adventure with your family to go hunting for some or if you want to take an easier route, you can purchase your own driftwood (but where's the fun in that? :) Either way, make this one of your future weekend projects. You will love the end result!

Materials:

Driftwood in all sizes and shapes

Beads (your choice)

Seed Beads (to finish off ends)

Fishing line

Drill

Small impact drill bit

Scissors

Ceiling Hook

Instructions:

Lay your driftwood out and figure out how you want it displayed.Larger to smaller, smaller to larger, all different sizes, all the same size. Endless possibilities! Choose which beads you would like in-between each piece if any. Once you have your layout complete start by drilling your holes into the center of each piece of driftwood. For your top piece you will want to drill 3 holes. One on each end and one in the middle. The end holes will be the hanging point. Next tie off a piece of fishing line add a seed bead and string it through one of your end holes up through the bottom, pull it through to the other end and tie it off with another seed bead. This is your hanging string so make sure you leave some room for it to hang nicely from your ceiling. Cut another piece of fishing line long enough to thread through all of your driftwood and beading. Knot if off and add a seed beed, pull it through your top piece and continue threading the the rest of you driftwood and beads. Once complete add another seed bead to the end and knot it off. Make sure you knot it closely so your piece doesn't slack too much. Now find a spot in your home to display it, take a photo, and share it with @thelittlebungalow #thelittlebungalow #thelittlebungalowdiy so we can see and share it too!
