DIY MACRAME PEACECATCHER

Updated: May 15, 2020

WE ALL NEED A LITTLE DAILY REMINDER TO ALWAYS KEEP THE PEACE!

Today I'm bringing you this little macrame peace sign to add to your little bungalows. I love seeing it on a daily basis, it's simple things like this that can start your days off right. I'm in love with the hint of coastal vibes it gives off and with summer at our fingertips it's the perfect piece to adorn your room with.

MATERIALS:

wooden embroidery hoop

macrame cord

scissors

fishing line

drift wood and seashell (optional)

1. Cut a piece of macrame cord about 42 inches long

2. Fold cord in half and place under your embroidery hoop

3. Loop tail ends of cord through looped cord (make sure to go over your embroidery hoop)

4. Pull tight to secure

5. Cut another length of cord about same length and place under your main cord attached to embroidery hoop.

We are going to be using the simple square knot for the peace sign itself

6. Starting from the left take your left side of the cord and place it over the middle section

7. Then go under the right side of the same cord

8. Take the right side that you just went under and place that under the middle cord

9. Pull that piece through and over the left side of the cord.

you can find a tutorial here on how to create square knots ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hx2_nHJxGLA )

10. You will follow those same steps going back and forth from left to right then right to left etc. until you reach about half way.

11. Tie off your left and right string on an angle to create your peace logo

12. Tie off your middle string straight down.

13. Cut 2 more piece of cord about 34 inches each

14. Place one string under left tied off side and continue using the square knot

15. Knot it off on the back when complete

16. Repeat same steps for the right side.

17. Cut 8 more pieces of cord about 40 inches each

18. Loop them each around bottom of embroidery hoop 4 pieces to each side tucked in between the triangle shape your peace sign makes.

19. I unraveled my cords and brushed them out (you don't have to do this, but it does make it look cleaner)

Trim off bottom how you like it and add fishing line to top to hang.

(I strung driftwood through mine, if you'd like to do that just hammer a nail lightly through your driftwood to create holes and thread through you fishing line)

Display your peace sign and enjoy your newest creation! Keep the peace always and wake away from all thing negative.
