I adore this project, anything macrame really. :) This project is a great start for beginners because we are only dealing with one simple style knot. I love the simplicity of the trees and the charm they add to the holiday. Use them to decorate your home, make a garland out of them by making a bunch, use them on doorknobs, decorate your wrapped gifts with them. So many cute possibilities.
MATERIALS:
Macrame rope or string
Scissors
Clip Board (optional, but helps)
Instructions:
Cut two lengthy strands from your rope or string
Fold one rope in half
Place second rope horizontal behind folded rope
Now we are going to use an over under and through method to make our square knots
Take one of your horizontal sides and place it over your vertical and under the other horizontal side.
Take the opposite side and this time go under your vertical string and through and over the opposite horizontal side.
Pull both horizontal strings and slide your knot upward
Follow those steps for the remaining knots. Use 2 or 3 knots then make a space before you start your next 2 or 3, making the spaces a little bigger each break, like this...
Once all your knots are complete push up with you thumb on the last not to create your tree!
You can trim your string and fray it to give it more effect, if your have gold thread or wire try ending it off with some shine. Happy creating! and MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, & A JOYFUL LIFE!
