TIE DYED BEACH/PICNIC BLANKET

I AM OBSESSED! This might be my most favorite #diy yet! And the turn out is just magical! This beach picnic blanket will come in handy often and I cannot wait to put it to good use. This wold make a lovely handmade gift for someone too! It's not hard to make and only takes a little bit of time. I will definitely be making more of these beauties so make sure you stay tuned with @thelittlebungalow on Instagram to find out more!

Materials:

White Sheet or Blanket

Rubber Bands

Shibori Dye or if you want to just use regular RIT DYE that could do the job too

Bucket

Gloves

Prepare your dye by following the box instructions or play with your own dyes by mixing colors in a bucket filled with hot water.

Start by laying your sheet or blanket out flat. Next fold in like you would a paper fan (back and forth accordion style) You should have one long accordion strip at the end. Then take one end and fold a little triangle, follow that step by folding triangles all the way down until your reach the end. You should have one big triangle when finished. Next wrap it in rubber bands. (for the one pictured I only used 3 bands for all the triangle corners) Once your rubber bands are in place put your blanket or sheet in your bucket of dye and let it soak. Some dyes might have instructions on how long to leave it. The one pictured I let simmer for 30 minutes. When you are done dyeing be prepared to be amazed! Run your triangle under cold water squeezing it while you rinse to try and get out any excess dye. Ring out your triangle so it's not so soaked with water. Then cut your rubber bands and start unfolding! Hang your masterpiece up to dry and give it a wash if needed before use!

I am in complete awe of this project and this is definitely one that I would love to see if you ever decide to get creative with it! Make sure to share it over @thelittlebungalow on Instagram so we can share it with the world too! You will love this project and I can guarantee you'll make more!
